After 46 years Currie Enterprises has discontinued tearing down and rebuilding salvaged rearends. On August 9, 2005 the last of the Ford 9" rearends went through the disassembly line at Currie. This event was celebrated with a company party commemorating the end of an era.

Since 1967 Currie has rebuilt over 300,000 nine-inch rearends. They have maintained an inventory of two-acres, stacked 12 feet high in endless rows at their Anaheim facility. Everyday rearends were disassembled, cleaned rebuilt at the rate of up to 55 a day. This phase of the operation has now ended.

Rebuilding nine-inch rearends has represented a major portion of Currie's business. However, in recent years the scarcity of good salvageable nine-inch rearends has prompted Currie to develop their 9-Plus Product Line. This is a family of brand-new components modeled after the original 9" concept but improved and superior in every way.

Currie Enterprises actually began by rebuilding rearends for Taylor Dunn, a manufacturer of electric vehicles and major producer of industrial carts and golf carts. The original carts were used in the poultry industry to collect eggs by driving through the hen house. The gas-powered models detrimentally effected the egg production and were soon replaced with electrical powered carts. Frank Currie, Currie Enterprise's founder supplied 1949-'54, cut-down Plymouth rearends, which were perfect for these electrical carts.

Soon the nursery industry also became a customer, and in the mid 60's Electric Powered Golf Carts further expanded the market.

All the Currie brothers were involved in the automotive and rearend industry. Frank Currie also bought and sold military Jeeps. John Currie began building Hot Rod rearends about 1977. Ray worked on forklifts, and Charles was restoring cars. By 1982 they all decided to concentrate their efforts in one direction... Currie Enterprises.

Today Currie remains the trendsetter in the performance rearend aftermarket industry. The company continues to develop new products and introduce new concepts. The most recent being the Currie-Built "Crate" Rearend program. A series of assembled rearends ready to install.
