Currie Mud Grappler

Currie's "Mud Grappler" 2004 Jeep TJ Unlimited edition Wrangler features the 4.0L efi 6 cyl. engine, 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission, Atlas 3.0:1 transfer case with 32 spline output shafts, polished aluminum RockJock® High Pinion 60 front end with polished aluminum cover, 5.38 gears, 35 spline ARB air locker, 1310 yoke, 35 spline inner axles, 1480 u-joints, 30 spline 1 ton outer axles, 356T6 polished aluminum RockJock® outer knuckles, F-450 Ford 1 ton unit bearings redrilled to 5 on 5 1/2" wheel bolt pattern, 12 1/2" Wilwood disc brakes with drilled, slotted, and vented rotors, and billet 4 piston calipers. The vehicle's rearend also consists of a polished aluminum RockJock® High Pinion 60 with polished aluminum cover, 5.38 gears, 35 spline ARB air locker, 1350 yoke, 35 spline forged alloy Currie axle shafts, 5 on 5 1/2" wheel bolt pattern, 12 1/2" Wilwood disc brakes with drilled, slotted rotors, billet 4 piston calipers, and the internal drum brake style parking brake.

Frame modifications include the 2 rearmost body mounts on each side have been cut off of the frame and raised 1" and welded back on, all lower control arm mounts have been cut, raised, radiused, rewelded, and gusseted with custom laser cut steel plates. Currie front upper coil over shock mounts replace the stock front upper coil spring bucket and shock mounts, and Currie rear upper shock mounts have been installed on the rearend in front of the axle.

Suspension modifications include a 3 link Johnny Joint front system with adjustable"J" arm lower control arms, Walker Evans coil over front shocks, polished 1 1/4" diameter 7075T6 aluminum tie rod, drag link, and trac bar all with chrome moly high misalignment heim joint ends. PSC heavy duty steering gear box, power steering pump, and steering assist cylinder, Currie Antirock sway bar with polished aluminum arms, Currie 2 piece bolt-in flat transfer case skid plate, Powertrain Industries heavy duty CV driveshafts front and rear, triangulated 4-link Johnny Joint rear suspension with adjustable "J" arm lower control arms, Currie coil springs, Walker Evans gas charged remote canister rear shocks, Currie 24 gallon stainless steel gas tank, and Currie Antirock sway bar with polished aluminum arms.

Upgrades on top include Currie shorty Rock Crawler II front bumper with heavy duty fairlead mount hoop and Warn 9.5 TI winch, steel heat reduction hood from American Expedition Vehicles painted in the factory Electric green by Mahood's Auto Body (who also custom painted both winches), Warn 7" wide extended fender flares, James Gang Racing supplied the custom tubular doors with stainless steel inserts, as well as the custom stainless steel roof with polished aluminum diamond plate insert for mounting of the Code 3 light bar, Currie Rock Ribz rocker panel guards with side protection tube with added polished diamond plate step plates, Currie Rock Crawler II rear tire carrier bumper with high mount stop light and Currie Tail Bonez for corner sheet metal protection, Warn 9.5 TI multi mount rear winch, and Tuffy manufacturing also supplied their rear security drawer for the Unlimited model.

Other features of the vehicle are the Nitto 37" x 13.50" x 17" Mud Grappler tires mounted on 17" x 9" Walker Evans bead locked wheels, ARB Air compressor, engine has been raised 1 1/2" and Turbo City Rocket Tube air intake with K&N filter has been installed. Washer fluid bottle and overflow tank have been relocated to clear the coil over upper shock mounts, and the PSC power steering pump. Additional thanks goes to Blaine Johnson for his technical assistance on the installation of the emergency light bar and strobe light system, and to Tony Correia of A Auto Detailer for the final detailing of the vehicle.
