Cut-To-Fit Axles feature 4-inches of spline length, up to 3-inches of spline length can be removed to achieve the desired length
Measuring For Cut-To-Fit Axles
If you don't have an existing axle to measure for length, refer to the diagrams below and measure as indicated.
All dimensions should be accurate to the 1/16 of an inch to ensure a proper fit.
For the "X" dimension (Driver's side axle), hook the tape measure on the stud (as shown) and measure to the outside edge of the housing end flange, then add 5 5/8 inches to find the overall axle length.
For the "Y" dimension (Passenger's side axle), hook the tape measure on the stud (as shown) and measure to the outside edge of the housing end flange, then add 8 1/4 inches to find the overall axle length.
Housing End Type And Brake Space
Use the image and dimensions below to verify your housing end type; These Cut-To-Fit Axles only fit Late Model (Torino) large bearing housing ends. Measure the brake space (BS) to verify axle fitment as Ford used several different combinations of housing end and brake space dimensions during production runs. If your housing end and brake space dimensions do not match the sizes shown, please call, as we have many axle options.
Late Big Bearing (Torino)
Brake Space
Brake Space (BS) is the distance from the face of the housing end to the face of the axle; this is a critical dimension for proper axle and brake fitment. If your brake space dimensions do not match the measurement below, please contact sales to speak with one of our experts.
