Measuring For Cut-To-Fit Axles

Do not measure your existing axle length. Currie builds custom axles using the "X" and "Y" dimensions shown below.

All dimensions should be accurate to the 1/16 of an inch to assure a proper fit.

For the "X" dimension (Drivers side axle) hook the tape measure on the stud (as shown) and measure to the outside edge of the housing end flange, then add 5 5/8 inches to find the overall axle length.

Y Diagram

For the "Y" dimension (Passengers side axle) hook the tape measure on the stud (as shown) and measure to the outside edge of the housing end flange, then add 8 1/4 inches to find the overall axle length.

Housing End Type And Brake Space

Use the image and dimensions below to verify your housing end type; These Cut-To-Fit Axles only fit Late Model (Torino) large bearing housing ends. Measure the brake space (BS) to verify axle fitment as Ford used several different combinations of housing end and brake space dimensions during productions runs. If your housing end and brake space dimensions do not match the dimensions shown, please call, as we have many axle options.

Brake Space

Brake Space (BS) is the distance from the face of the housing end to the face of the axle; this is a critical dimension for proper brake fitment. If your brake space dimensions do not match the measurement below, please contact sales to speak with one of our experts.

Required Brake Space Dimensions

Late Big Bearing housing end = 2.5 inch Brake Space

PROP 65 WARNING:

Currie's 35 spline CTF (Cut To Fit) 9" axles provide you with 3 axle lengths, all with 4" of spline length. Up to 3" of this spline length may be cut off so that you may attain an axle length anywhere between 23" and 32" and still have adequate spline engagement into your 3rd. member. All CTF axles feature high performance induction heat treated forged alloy steel construction, and are ABCS (Aftermarket Brake Configuration Standard) compliant. Wheel bolt patterns are dual drilled for 5 on 4 1/2" Ford and 5 on 4 3/4" Chevy, and an access hole is drilled. All CTF axles come with a full installation package which includes one set of five 1/2"-20 Ford style wheel studs, one set of five 7/16"-20 Chevy style wheel studs, one set-20 tapered roller bearing with race, seal, & collar, and one heavy duty late model large bearing style retainer plate. NOTES: 1) ABCS specifications are 2.500" brake spacing offset, Torino or late model large bearing housing end type, and 2.800" axle register diameter. 2) Axle bearing does not come pressed onto the axle shaft, and wheel studs are not installed.
