For performance enthusiasts, the Apex Floater delivers clear advantages over traditional semi-float axles. By isolating the axle shaft from the vehicle’s load, the full-float design eliminates unwanted brake pad knock-back experienced under heavy cornering loads. It removes rotor runout caused by bent axle flanges. The result is more consistent braking, improved pedal feel, and reduced wear on critical components. Additionally, the housing end can accommodate the C7 Corvette wheel-speed sensor, enabling full integration of traction control and ABS systems for advanced handling and control.
For custom car builders, the Apex Floater delivers a dose of modern C7 technology while maintaining the classic aesthetics and strength of a 9-inch rear end. Stepping up to an Apex Floater takes your build to the next level with full-float axles, electric parking brakes, and easily serviceable axle seals. Gone are the awkward, ugly parking brake cables and the need to press off axle bearings to replace a leaking seal.
Standard Brake options, Currie integrates Wilwood brake kits designed for Big Bearing Ford Torino-style housing ends with a 2.5-inch axle offset. These kits are offered in 11-inch to 14-inch rotor sizes, with mechanical or electronic parking brake, with smooth or drilled/slotted configurations to suit street, autocross, or show applications. Additionally, caliper mounting locations are 360° clockable, allowing builders to easily position the calipers out of the way of suspension bracketry or frame rails — a critical advantage in custom chassis and high-clearance applications. No other full-float option on the market matches this level of flexibility.
Whether you’re chasing tenths on the autocross course, crafting a world-class custom car, or cruising the boulevard, the Currie Apex Floater delivers modern performance, unmatched serviceability, and a truly custom aesthetic. It’s not just another 9-inch rear end — it’s the future of performance driveline design.
